Rani Mahal
Constructed by Raghunath II Constructed by Raghunath II Newalkar in the 18th century, Rani Mahal or the Queen’s Palace was the erstwhile residence of Rani Lakshmibai, the Rani of Jhansi. It has now been converted into a museum, which houses a vast collection of archaeological remains from the period between the 9th and 12th centuries AD. The palace reflects a typical Bundelkhand style of architecture with its open courtyards and arched chambers. It is said that it was in this palace that Rani Lakshmibai plotted with Tantya Tope and Nana Sahib on how to overcome the colonial rule.
